According to activist Imraahn Mukaddam, the signing of the NHI Bill is long overdue. He says that there have been talks about this since 2009, and the private sector has had more than enough time to prepare for the implementation of the NHI. This system has been advocated for so that South Africans can have a more equitable health system.

People in the community—the sick and vulnerablehave to wait for 5 to 10 hours to be treated, and then sometimes they are turned away to wait for another 5 to 10 hours to see a doctor the next day. The less fortunate in South Africa are at the receiving end of an inequitable health system, and the NHi will give poor South Africans access to the health care that they deserve. 

When security apprehended 33-year-old Bandile Shababala for allegedly stealing a chocolate bar, the Ratanda, Heidelberg Shoprite manager allegedly locked him inside a cold storage room.

Community members told News24 that thieves are locked inside the outlet's cold storage as punishment. They are usually released after around 30 minutes, but Shababala was kept in there for 11 hours. His body was found outside an Avbob premises next to the Shoprite on Monday morning. 

 

On Wednesday, information was received about a double murder incident in Delft where a Sasko bread delivery truck was robbed and employees were killed. Zimbabwean Martin Mungayi is also involved in robberies in Mfuleni and a few robbery cases across the province, according to the information.

The suspect was assaulted by community members while trying to rob someone on Friday in the West Bank. He was then apprehended and taken to Mfuleni police station. He was then transported to a hospital, but he escaped. The suspect was found on a bus and was arrested and detained in Beaufort West. 

  

The 11-year-old son of entertainer Ashley Pienaar, Ajay Pienaar, has his singing talent set to go to the United Kingdom. The 11-year-old singing sensation from Delft will be auditioning later this year on Britain's Got Talent music show.

The teen, who also goes by the stage name “Ajay Wonderboy, has released an Afrikaans track titled "As die fader in is, dan kom al die kinnes".

The world court ruled that countries must protect oceans by reducing fossil fuel emissions. Island states are struggling to survive; nine small islands have won a historic climate change case at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS).

The court ruled that all 169 countries that signed a United Nations treaty in 1994 on marine activities have to do more to protect the world’s oceans from climate change. The prime minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Gaston Browne, says that some will become uninhabitable in the near future because of the failure to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions. They demand that the major polluters respect international law and stop the catastrophic harm done to us before it is too late. 

Rather than carbon dioxide being the leading cause of global warming , a study by nearly two dozen scientists found that rising global temperatures may be caused by the sun. According to Human Events, a paper by 23 solar physics and climate science experts from 14 different countries concluded that the 16 most prominent datasets of solar output show solar energy is more of a cause for global warming than carbon dioxide. The study was published in the journal Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics, per Western Journal.
