The idea is to bring together a community forum made up of civic organizations and civil society groups. The purpose behind this is to look at the different problem areas in Riviersonderend and to group them into three main portfolios. From there, a sub-forum would be set up, with three chairpersons appointed to help coordinate the portfolios. This sub-forum would then report back to the larger umbrella body, the Management Executive Committee (MANCO). The intention is for the forum to serve as a voice for those who often go unheard. Recognition of the portfolios would allow them to have seats at various structures such as ward committees, community policing forums, hospital boards, education boards, social and welfare groups, and municipal chambers. A mandate would be requested from the community so that the forum could act as a direct channel between civic society and Parliament, as well as the three spheres of government.
