The Elsies River Police Forum notes with concern the escalation of violent shootings in Sector 3, Leonsdale. CPF Chair Chief Hamish Arries expressed his condolences and deep concern to the Dammas family of 11th Avenue Leonsdale following the fatal shooting of 24-year-old Lameese Dammas earlier this week. Chief Arries knew the deceased personally, as she was a regular attendee at workshops at the local library. They are appealing that the parties to the current conflict not engage in tit-for-tit retaliation that only results in more deaths. The Elsies River CPF will be mobilising its structures and the local community through our regular Peace Marches and Street Imbizos as part of our Youth Day and Youth Focused Interventions in the coming week. Chief Arries reiterated his call for calm and increased visibility of all Law Enforcement agencies. It is also important that the shooters and weapons be apprehended and removed from our streets sayy Arries.

Gavin Petersen and Derrick from Manenberg died in a fire on Tuesday night. city’s Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson, Jermaine Carelse, says they were notified just after 11pm of several structures alighting in Seine Street. Crews from Gugulethu, Ottery and Mitchells Plain were on scene and by 00:40, the fire was contained and extinguished.
The blaze destroyed two informal structures and caused extensive damage to the first floor of a formal duplex, while another duplex was smoke-logged. The bodies of two adult males were discovered beneath the debris; they had sustained fatal burn wounds. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

On Tuesday they discovered the decomposed body of a male hiker at the Silvermine Nature Reserve. City of Cape Town staffer Alistair Stanbull is missing after he was implicated in a R2.5 million fraud scandal. People think that it might be his body because he was kidnapped. Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, said Stanbull was last seen on April 29 and his car was found near Ou Kaapse Weg the next day.
Alistair told his wife that he was going for a hike, left his premises in Steenberg and never returned. Upon their arrival at the scene, they found the decomposed body of an unknown man dressed in gray pants and a T-shirt with black boots in a stream next to the hiking trail. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by the medical personnel. An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause of death. Kirstenhof police registered an inquest for further investigation.
A very traumatized and emotional Eastern Cape resident spoke about the floods that occurred over the past weekend in the Kariega area, formerly known as Uitenhage. In the floods, 7 people have been confirmed dead and four others are missing.
It's reported that in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, 70 people have been rescued due to the heavy floods in Kariega and surrounding areas.
In the latest court appearance of Thabo Bester, the Bloemfontein High Court on Wednesday morning had to hear how Bester, the convicted murderer and Facebook rapist, made an impassioned plea for the death sentence. Bester, his former girlfriend and alleged accomplice, Dr. Nandipha Magudumana.
They were back in court on charges relating to the notorious conman’s escape from the Free State's Mangaung Correctional Center in May 2022. A well-groomed Bester represented himself in front of Judge Cagney Musi after his latest legal representatives recused themselves from the trial, allegedly over unpaid fees.
