Disaster Risk Management says that severe storms are on the cards for the Western Cape A Yellow Level 4 warning has been issued for the City of Cape Town, the Cape Winelands District, the southern parts of the West Coast, and the Overberg district. Parts of the Overberg area—Bredasdorp—have been flooding since Sunday.

Heavy rain is falling all over Mother City and is causing substantial damage to properties, motor vehicles, and accidents. Disaster Risk Management has warned citizens of the province to approach the roads with caution.

The Cape Agulhas area has received more than 135 mm of rain since last night and today. Flash flooding occurred in some areas. There is road damage on minor roads. 

Use extreme caution on the roads, especially in the dark. 

Road Closures: 

R319 Struisbaai Road is closed. 

R316, Arniston Road, is closed. 

DR1223 Ou Plaas Road is closed until R317 Swellendam Road. 

DR1219 Elim/Napier road closed due to road damage. 

 Open Roads: 

R317 Swellendam Road is open. 

MR264 Bredasdorp/Swellendam Road is open. In process of clearing debris on road. 

MR265 Bredasdorp/Stormsvlei road is open; please use extreme caution. 

R316 Bredasdorp/Napier road is open, but please use extreme caution as the road is partially flooded. 

Motorists are advised to maintain a speed limit of 20 km//h where water is visible on the road, People are being cautioned to stay home and limit their travel.  

Bredasdorp pedestrian bridges: 

Two pedestrian bridges (Golf and Baadjies Street bridge, Padiachy and Rand Street bridge) are damaged and unstable due to water damage. The community is advised to avoid the pedestrian bridge.

The Elsies River Advice Office held a Child Protection week program in association with the South African Police Service at Edward Primary School in Clarke Estate. The theme was 

"When Shooting Starts" 

Children tend to run to the shooting incident instead of running away to safety, which result in unnecessary casualties. They hope to address this problem through this programme. 

 

A South African supporter of Palestine was murdered after an Israeli supporter stabbed Halima Firoza Hoosen to death. The known perpetrator entered the home of the family on Sunday.

He stabbed to death the wife and mother of two, he wounded the husband and son; and left the young teen daughter unharmed. The perpetrator appeared in the Durban Magistrate court.

#Africa4Palestine says that this untimely death is one among tens of thousands of Palestinian martyrs who gave their lives to the Palestinian cause for freedom. The man who was arrested has allegedly confessed to the crime
