President Cyril Ramaphosa's address to the nation on Sunday evening has come under fire. Ramaphosa spoke to citizens from the Union Buildings. He has done some reflection and spoken of his administration. Despite the progress, Ramaphosa says that there are ongoing challenges and emphasised the need for continued resilience and unity.

Leader of Build One South Africa, Mmusi Maimane, says that this is a campaign speech and an abuse of power by Cyril Ramaphosa. The Africa correspondent for The Globe and Mail, Geoffrey York, says that Cyril Ramaphosa commandeered the national television channels to give a last-ditch campaign speech, disguised as a presidential "address to the nation." The disguise isn't fooling anyone.
