Today, GOOD Leader Patricia de Lille will be in Elsie’s River as part of their campaign. During the upcoming national and provincial elections that will take place next month some politicians will be seen by citizens for a bit as they are looking to secure votes.

According to the party, Elsies River is one of many communities on the outskirts of the City of Cape Town that is faced with a lack of proper infrastructure and housing, poor service delivery, limited public transport, and some of the highest crime rates in the country. The party says that they have been fighting tirelessly for Elsies River and won’t stop until they can stop this suffering.

The event is taking place at, 33 May St, Avonwood, Cape Town

The National Government of South Africa says that their child support fund is ongoing. South African citizens have been complaining about the high cost of living.

According to reports, President Cyril Ramaphosa is urging the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to open the Child Support Scheme. Child support grants in South Africa provide financial support to the primary caregiver of a child under the age of 18. The aim of the grant is to protect children living in poverty.

There is a message going around that the grant will pay out R1100, but this is not true. The Child Support Grant increases to R530 this year, says the The South African.

Do you think R1100 is too much to ask for?

UNICEF Communication Specialist Tess Ingram reports that she left Gaza recently after spending two weeks there. It was her second mission to Gaza this year. Over the last six months, a staggering number of children have been wounded amid intense and often indiscriminate attacks, their lives forever changed by the horrors of war.

Ingram says that she met a 9-year-old girl with major open wounds from a blast, a 16-year-old girl, orphaned and recovering from a broken leg, a 13-year-old boy still recovering three months after a difficult arm amputation without anesthetic, and a 10-year-old boy in intensive care after being shot in the head while buying herbs; he died the next day.

"With at least 70 children injured every day, we need the number of medical evacuations to increase so children can access the care they urgently need. And with one child killed or injured every ten minutes, above anything else, we need a ceasefire. It is the only way to stop the killing and maiming of children. Their shattered bodies and fractured lives are a testament to the brutality being forced upon them."
