Western Cape Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen says that their vision is to achieve greater safety in hotspot areas and ultimately the whole of the Western Cape. These successes show how their officers are continuing to disrupt criminal activity where they are deployed. Combatting crime is a priority for the safety of our communities.

LEAP murals and centres were recently activated in Hanover Park, Philippi, Kraaifontein, Mfuleni and Delft. These murals are to inform communities where LEAP is deployed. Allen says that he enjoys engaging residents and informing them about LEAP’s work in all areas. He is urging community members to continue working with LEAP, as they are there to make your area safer.

On Monday in Bonteheuwel a teenager was arrested on charges of allegedly raping eight children repeatedly. Local ward councilor, Angus Mckenzie says that he was informed of the incident on Sunday evening and stated the sexual acts are alleged to have been taking place for a number of years. He says that he applauds the people of Bonteheuwel who took to the streets to protest at the home of the alleged suspect. This is warmly welcoming, knowing that we are achieving great strides in building a community that stands together, fights together and cares together.

Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says that the incident is still under investigation. They are appealing to anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111. The teenager has not applied for bail and cannot be named because he is a minor.

The BRICS organization’s Russian counterpart says that the new currency is important to end the US dollar’s domination over the international markets. Russian Diplomat, Yury Ushakov explains that 'Russia and China' have teamed up to teach the US dollar a lesson in the international markets. The duo was the first to come up with the idea of creating a new BRICS currency.

The fact that the White House is pressing sanctions against the developing countries is the main reason for this development. Ushakov says that they believe that creating an independent BRICS payment system is an important goal for the future, which would be based on state-of-the-art tools such as digital technologies and blockchain.

Russia’s Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov says that BRICS members are looking at the possibility of a common unit of account and currency that will be like the Euro. He adds that the currency could work as an alternative to the US dollar and can be used to denote the cost of some commodities.
