Mother of missing girl Joshlin Smith, Kelly Smith says that she can feel that her daughter is still alive. The residents of Saldhana have been searching for the 7-year-old since Monday, when she failed to come home.

The Grade 1 learner was at home sick and the mother left Joshlin with her boyfriend. When she arrived home, both her boyfriend and her daughter were missing. When they found her boyfriend he said that he did not know where Joshlin is.

After filing a missing child report the police say that they are following the report by her mother, a full-scale search was initiated comprising the investigating officer attached to the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS), visible policing members, Disaster Risk Management (DRM) personnel and a magnitude of community members.

Kelly says that she is distraught, she is broken, she does not know where her child is, she cannot sleep without knowing what is happening with Joshlin.

Missing Children South Africa’s National Coordinator Bianca van Aswegen says that they assist with all missing person cases within South Africa. There is a need for the organisation to assist the police and the public when a child or an adult goes missing.

Anyone with information about Joshlin can contact Sergeant Millstine on 079 879 8588 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Capetonians of the Parkwood area decided to come together and clean up the canals. Founder of Jabulani Feeding and Learning Centre, Yasmine Abrahams says that Jabulani is at the canal and every day they make food for seniors and children, but the flies are in Jabulani, and the problem was the canal.

A group of City of Cape Town employees were robbed while picking up rubbish and litter and now they do not come anymore.

Yasmine says that they need to dispatch employees with visible police patrols in the area and that the local government is equally to blame for the robbery. She says that the community’s children then jumped in and she had to pay them out of her pocket.

She also wants to know why the department in charge cannot employ men in the community to keep the place clean and this will be the solution to the problem.

A popular Tiktokker named ekisrichinmindShewaan Jumat talks about the one on ones that he has with some of the children and parents within the impoverished communities on the Cape Flats.

He says that he gets calls from people and on this day, a mother contacted him because she found a gun in her 16-year-old son’s cupboard. She did not know what to do about the situation. When hearing about this Jumat offered to speak with the youth. When she found the gun she did not want to call the police.

Jumat asked the mother if the child was already in jail, she said no. Jumat explains that sometimes when children have not been to jail they are scared of the experience. But once they have been throught the system they aren't scared of anything. The youth's mother says that she does not know how to stop her teenage son from going down the wrong path. She never gets a chnce to speak to him because he comes in late at night and just dismisses her.

Jumat says that our mothers are gong on their knees and praying for our children. Our mothers are asking God: "What can we do to help our children."

"The problem is basically the same. It is different, but it is the same. Our children do not understand the world. Our children do not understand what is going on around them. Our children aren't rich in mind" - Sherwaan Jumat

Taking care of your skin under the African sun is very important. A skincare routine is vital because the skin repairs itself. If we neglect our skin, it can be damaging to our overall health and our skin’s appearance.

At night our skin repairs and regenerates from any damage that happens from environmental factors like pollution, stress and UV radiation. We need to replenish and aid our skin by applying a moisturizer.

We can also potect our skin during the day. It is also very important to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen. You need to apply a SPF 30 before going out in the sun. Refresh your skin by reapplying every two hours and remember to apply liberally.

Sunscreen has been shown to protect the skin against skin cancer.
